She was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with bruising and needed stitches for a head wound.

The accident, which happened at around 6pm on Saturday, is the latest of a series in the busy St Stephens area.

Police handed out leaflets to shoppers before Christmas in an attempt to stop jaywalking after more than 750 people were spotted crossing Ferensway on the red man in the space of one hour.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the latest accident, which happened on the same crossing where a 13-year-old suffered head injuries in 2008 following a collision with a bus.
