Woman kidnapped in her car outside Dewsbury Sainsbury’s

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was falsely imprisoned during a robbery in Dewsbury.

Kirklees CID would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident at around 8pm outside the Sainsbury’s store in the town last night.

The 52-year-old victim had left the store and withdrew some money from the cash machine. She was then followed into her blue MG car by a man, who threatened her with a knife before telling her to drive.

The victim drove approximately one mile when the suspect got out and made off with her handbag into the Chickenley estate.

The suspect is described as white, around 5’9 of medium build, mid to late 20s and spoke with an Irish accent. He was wearing Khaki green, Parka-style coat with the hood up. He was also wearing a blue baseball cap with dirty white writing stitched on it.

Det Sgt Dave West of Dewsbury CID, said: “This is an extremely serious offence which has left the victim very shocked and upset and we would like to speak to anyone who has witnessed the incident or seen the offender just prior to the incident taking place.”
