Woman out with pet bitten and abused

A DOG walker in the Durkar area of Wakefield was bitten and verbally abused, police said last night.

Police are investigating after a woman was twice the victim of abuse from the same man and woman.

In the first incident on Sunday February 6, officers received a report that a woman has been bitten by a dog on the grassed area behind The Swan and Sygnet pub on Denby Dale Road at around 1pm.

While she was walking her dog, a Staffordshire bull terrier attacked her dog and as she tried to separate the two animals she received a bite requiring hospital treatment.

The owners of the dog shouted and swore at the victim before walking away with their two dogs.

The second incident happened on Sunday, May 29, when the woman was again walking her dog and spotted the man and woman again with their two dogs.

She suffered further verbal abuse from them when she tried to speak to them about the bite in February.

The pair then walked off again.
