THIS was the dramatic moment when a helicopter helping to install a Christmas tree crashed.

The pilot amazingly escaped serious injury after his helicopter came down in New Zealand.

The rear of the helicopter snaps and the pilot is hurled about as the helicopter smashes into the ground.

According to the television station, pilot Greg Gribble, who has 20 years’ experience, said he was ‘doing fine’ after his ordeal.

Amazingly Gribble walked away from the scene, aided by medical professionals.

The wreckage was subsequently been removed from the scene.

Telecom, the company responsible for tree, later released a statement about the crash and said it was ‘extremely glad the pilot and ground crew were not seriously injured, and will assist any investigations into the crash as required’.
