Yorkshire views inspire Pickwick Painters' latest landscape exhibition

Yorkshire's coast and moorland has provided the inspiration for two artists whose work has caught the eye of holidaymakers from as far afield as Canada and Australia.

Penny Wicks and Amanda Pickles are staging their latest exhibition in Pickering with more than 100 examples of their work on show in the North Yorkshire market town's Memorial Hall.

The artists, who use the name The Pickwick Painters, have travelled along the Yorkshire coast and throughout the North York Moors National Park.

The exhibition which began on Good Friday and runs until tomorrow is the fourth annual art show that they have staged together.

Grandmother-of-two Mrs Wicks, who lives with her husband, John, in Newton on Rawcliffe near Pickering, said: "We are spoilt for choice with the scenery which is in the local area, and we will never tire of it.

"It is wonderful to think that some of our work may end up on people's walls around the world if they take one of the paintings home with them."

Artwork on show at the exhibition include acrylics, pastels, water colours and collages, and the pieces are up for sale with prices ranging from 50 to 450.
