Youngsters targeted by fat camp courses

A NEW course of weight-loss camps for overweight children in Doncaster is set to begin in the New Year.

Carnegie Weight Management has previously run classes in both Rotherham and Doncaster, as well as a summer weight-loss camp where children are taught to eat healthily and exercise.

Funded by NHS Doncaster, a 12-week course of classes for the whole family will run every weekend from the third week in January. After the sessions end, participants will be able to access a 12-week follow-up plan and a members' website.

A spokesman for Carnegie Weight Management said: "The clubs are suitable for children aged four to 17 who are concerned about their weight to attend with a parent or carer.

"They are a great way to kick start the New Year, meet new friends, take part in fun activities and learn about healthy lifestyles."

Classes for children aged four to 17 will run at Trinity Academy in Thorne from 1.30pm to 5pm on Saturdays from January 22.

Clubs for younger children, who are aged between four to 10, will begin on January 23 from 9am to 12.30pm at Pheasant Bank Junior School in West End Lane, Rossington.
