Youth House set for transfer shortly

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet will discuss the proposal when it meets next Monday.

A report will recommend that it is transferred on a leasehold basis to the organisation. But the transfer would be subject to strict conditions.

These include the society submitting a full business plan, showing that the organisation would not require financial support and demonstrating members have properly consulted with stakeholders and the wider community.

Cabinet had originally agreed to transfer Youth House to Pennine Heritage to enable them to set up a heritage centre in the town but the decision was reversed in May 2011 following an unsuccessful funding bid by Pennine Horizons.

If the transfer goes ahead, the site would provide a permanent home for Hebden Bridge Brass Band, Hebden Bridge TV Company and Glusburn Theatre School for young people and vulnerable adults.
