Youth no bar at historic pub

A pub dating back to the medieval era has reopened – with one of the Calderdale's youngest landlords pulling the pints.

The Ring O'Bells pub went under the hammer with a guide price of 160,000 last month.

The new owner of the 900-year-old pub which lies in the shadow of Halifax Minster, is 21-year-old David Rossiter, a former shift leader for the pub chain Wetherspoons in Shipley.

He will be taught the trade – as he pulls the pints – by manager Ian McKenzie, who has more than 30 years of bar experience. The pair met as customers of the Friendly Inn in Ovenden, Halifax.
