Attacking play now required by Rotherham

Lee Blackett says his Rotherham Titans side will take an attacking mentality into the next tranche of Championship fixtures.

Despite suffering defeat last time out to county rivals Yorkshire Carnegie in the final game of the British and Irish Cup campaign, Blackett believes his side developed enough momentum to take into their return to league action.

Rotherham were squeezed out of the Championship’s top four last weekend by virtue of their inactivity and Nottingham’s win over Doncaster.

And in order to regain that position, Blackett wants his side to go on the offensive for today’s Boxing Day fixture with Moseley at Clifton Lane.

“We have attacked really well at times,” said Blackett, whose side won five out of six in the B&I Cup and face a home quarter-final with Leinster A next month.

“We’re going to take that attacking mentality into the Championship. The B&I Cup has definitely given us momentum.”

Former Wharfedale fly-half Tom Barrett could feature today after impressing in the Cup.

Blackett added: “Tom Barrett has done really well in the opportunities he has been given.

“He’s forced our hand and he’s made selection quite difficult.”
