Barnsley v Crystal Palace: Reds chief in search to boost attack

Championship: BARNSLEY manager Mark Robins has been given the go-ahead to sign a new striker after losing the opening two games of the season.

The Tykes lost heavily to Queens Park Rangers last weekend and were dumped out of the Carling Cup in midweek by Rochdale.

Robins has already signed two new strikers this summer – Liam Dickinson from Brighton and Jeronimo Neumann from Estudiantes – and also has Iain Hume and Andy Gray.

"It's no secret that I'm trying to bring in a goalscorer," admitted Robins, whose side have not won in 12 competitive games since March 16. "There are one or two things that I've been given permission to try and do.

"I am not stupid, I know that we need results and need to win matches. We have got off to the worst possible start."

Palace have started with two wins and Alan Lee, who played alongside Robins at Rotherham, has netted in both games.
