Barnsley v Ipswich Town: O’Connor now looking sharp for the Reds

Championship: SCOTTISH international Garry O’Connor is still seeking his best form for new club Barnsley.The former Birmingham City and Lokomotiv Moscow striker has bagged just one goal in his last 11 appearances for the Tykes.He missed the majority of last season with groin and hip problems and has been trying to lose weight to help improve his sharpness. “I’m not there yet – but I’m getting there,” he said. “It’s been really tough and I’m sill striving for my best form. I’ve lost a bit of weight and in the last couple of weeks I have felt the sharpness returning.”Manager Mark Robins has recently signed Bristol City striker Danny Haynes and Frank Nouble on loan from West Ham United in an attempt to ease the pressure on O’Connor.The Tykes are three points clear of today’s opponents Ipswich Town but have played two more games. The visitors have won four games out of six since the appointment of former Sheffield Wednesday and Bradford City manager Paul Jewell.
