Botti hopes Naadirr can scale even bigger heights

Marco Botti’s son of Oasis Dream showed plenty of ability last season but appears to have taken his game to another level as a four-year-old judged on his excellent display in the Cammidge Trophy.

Naadirr will step up to Group Two company at York’s Dante meeting, with Botti keen to find out whether he is up to taking on the best at Royal Ascot.

He said: “I was happy to see him show on the track what he has been showing us at home. We have been very pleased with his work in the mornings this year and he has really thickened out and looks stronger.

“He had a little bit of trouble in running and the ground was probably borderline for him. It was on the soft side of good and he would definitely prefer quicker ground. When the gap came he quickened up and was quite impressive, so we’re delighted. The plan now is to go for the Duke Of York and we’ll see what happens there. Royal Ascot is an obvious target, but we’ll take it step by step.”

Another horse bound for Royal Ascot is Bronze Angel after defying top weight to finish a respectable 12th in the Betway Lincoln at Doncaster.

Marcus Tregoning says the horse could run in seven-furlong handicaps at Ascot and Newbury before stepping back up to a mile for the Royal Hunt Cup.

“He has taken the race well,” said the trainer.
