Cardiff City v Sheffield United: Blackwell closing in on trio

Championship: SHEFFIELD United are hoping to complete the signing of former Manchester City and Burnley left-back Stephen Jordan.

Jordan, 29, was having a medical at Bramall Lane yesterday with a view to signing a two-year deal but will not be involved in tomorrow's televised game.

Manager Kevin Blackwell also plans to bring Arsenal centreback Kyle Bartley back to the club on loan and is holding talks with Hungarian international right-back Laszlo Bodnar.

If things go according to plan, all three will be in the Blades squad for next weekend's first home game of the season against Neil Warnock's QPR.

Jordan, who started 23 games for Burnley last season in the Premier League, has rejected offers from Portsmouth and Crystal Palace. His arrival will provide much needed competition at left-back for Andy Taylor following the departures of Gary Naysmith and Jordan Stewart.

Bartley, 19, played 14 times for the Blades last season but has been sidelined for the majority of the summer with a fractured collarbone. The teenager has, however, been given the go-ahead by Arsenal to spend another season on loan.

Bodnar, 31, was released by Hungarian champions Debrecen last season and played on trial for the Blades against Estudiantes. With 46 caps, he could figure for Hungary against England in Wednesday night's friendly.
