Abandonment fails to deny Otley the double

Although their match against last season’s champions Beckwithshaw was abandoned, Otley had already done enough to make sure that second-placed Burley cannot catch them in next week’s final match. Burley were left frustrated after Charlie Davy (78no) helped them to 180-6 and they had Kirkstall struggling on 82-6 only for the soggy summer to get the final say.

Andrew Foulds hit an unbeaten 65 in 67 balls in Steeton’s 150-9 but it wasn’t enough to beat Collingham who recovered from 96-7 to clinch a three-wicket win thanks to Steve Booth (47no).

Nick Cockcroft (38no) and Paul Dover (44no) put on 86 to take Ilkley to 187-7, but even though Dave Pennett (3-25) and Rob Spivey (4-13) had Bilton reeling on 88-7, the weather intervened.

Eddie Clayton (5-34) and Nick Robinson (52no) starred as Follifoot clinched the Second Division title with victory over their closest rivals North Leeds, who are in a three-team scrap for the second promotion spot.

Green Lane beat Colton to displace them in third spot, Michael Slater (3-30) and Waleed Akhtar (3-19) sparking Colton’s collapse from 99-2 to 146 all out.

At the other end of the table, Upper Wharfedale are favourites to join Bolton Villas in relegation after losing to fellow strugglers Thackley
