Bradshaw and Gilham frustrated

Premier Division leaders Clifton Alliance came off second best in the only drawn game in the top flight and had their lead clipped by 13 points when they were unable to match the 231-5 posted by Stamford Bridge.

For Stamford, Dave Bradshaw was left stranded on 99 not out when Bridge's overs expired at 231-5. He had great support from Dan Hagan, who made 76 as Alex Renton took 3-84 for the hosts.

Clifton captain John Gilham then responded with 98 but his sole assistant was John Myers (24) and his side found themselves hanging on for a draw at 215-9 after Graham Tipping and Dave Chaplin had each claimed three wickets.

Collis King was another player to come within a whisker of a three-figure score when he was denied yet another century due to Dunnington overtaking the 184-7 made by Sessay. There were two half-centuries for the National Village finalists with Matt Till making 56 and Jacob Spencer (57). King took 4-71 and then followed with an unbeaten 98 as he and Harwood Williams steered the second-placed side to an eight-wicket win in the 46th over.

Relegation-threatened Acomb did their cause no harm when they defeated Goole Town by 73 runs. St Peter's pupil Joe Halstead hit 60 in Acomb's 205-6 despite Richard Mann's 3-51. Dale then captured 3-12 as Goole were bundled out for 132, wicketkeeper Richard Sykes holding four catches.

Fenner moved into fifth place when a third-wicket stand of 81 between Dominic Rhodes (57) and Steve Sergeant (69no) propelled them to a five-wicket win over Easingwold.

The latter's total of 190-5 was brought about by two productive partnerships. Jon Marwood (46) and Martin Piercy (36) added 75 for the second wicket before Paul Skilbeck (53no) and Dan Copeland (40) added 89 for the fifth. Sergeant claimed 4-55 before going on to hit eight fours as Easingwold utilised seven bowlers.

With their three nearest challengers all coming off second best, York II increased their grip on Division One when they thumped Londesbrough Park by 191 runs.

York captain Dave Simpson hit his third century of the campaign and his 21st in the League when he contributed 110 to a first- wicket stand of 154 with Simon Lambert (47). James Beevers took 3-53 but York made 298-6 as Andy Kay (44no) and Mike Mortimor (24no) put the game beyond their struggling opponents. For Park, Calum Robertson made 27 and 14-year-old Greg Drewery 28 but the bowling of Richard Love (4-27) and Gareth Fenton (3-8) had them out for 107.
