‘Constructive’ talks held over proposed changes

The England and Wales Cricket Board have described an initial meeting with representatives of all 18 first-class counties and the MCC to discuss the recommendations made in the Morgan Review as “constructive”.

Some counties have expressed fears over the proposals, which include a reduction in the number of matches played in the County Championship.

The results of yesterday’s meeting will be reported back to the ECB Board in March. If the review is ratified, England’s 18 counties will play only 14 championship matches per season from 2014. It also recommends the increase of List A matches from 40 overs to 50.
