Cricket latest: England bowlers look to steady Yorkshire ship

Yorkshire endured a difficult morning after winning the toss beneath overcast skies.

They were quickly in trouble when openers Adam Lyth and Joe Sayers fell inside the first three overs.

Sayers was lbw to David Griffiths for four from the penultimate ball of the second over.

And Lyth was bowled by Cork for two from the opening delivery of the third over.

Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale made 15 before being strangled down the leg-side off Sean Ervine’s first delivery, while Joe Root was unluckily run-out for 35 when Ervine deflected a straight drive from Jonny Bairstow on to the stumps at the non-striker’s end.
