Dynamic Davies stars as Otley surge clear

James Davies led his side to a decisive victory over Guiseley and with their two nearest rivals, Burley and Bilton, both losing, Otley opened a 12-point lead at the top of Division One.

Davies (74) and recent signing from Lightcliffe David Hester (56) put on 108 for the fifth wicket as Otley raced to 297-6 and he then produced a 5-22 spell as the visitors were dismissed for 135.

Just one win in their last six completed games had left Steeton in danger of being sucked into the relegation battle but they found form to beat joint leaders Burley. Half-centuries from Matthew Price and Mark Taylor helped them to 259-8 before Steven Pearson (5-36) and Jonathan Best (4-73) combined to dismiss Burley for 216, of which Ed Brown made 86.

Toby Jacklin (83 & 3-34) and Stephen James (36 & 5-41) gave Collingham a 57-run win over Bilton.

Champions Beckwithshaw notched their fourth successive win to move within striking distance, Yasar Ali (66) and brothers Alex (58) and Tom Lilley (6-45) leading the way at Ilkley.

Ben Williams (56) and Andy Siddall (83) led Kirkstall to 265-9 but Andrew Doidge (81) and Conor McInerney (64) helped Rawdon to within nine runs of the target before they ran out of overs.

There was some fine batting in Division Two, led by Richard Nichols (142) who put on 225 with Ben Holderness (85) as Skipton passed Green Lane’s 251-7 with seven wickets in hand.

Rob Winter (123no) and Tim Coooper (85) shared a 155-run stand in North Leeds’s 306-7 with Junaid Bashir (92) and Sam Lawrence (43no) putting on 121 for the seventh wicket in Bolton Villas’ unsuccessful reply.

Tom Cummins (116) and Andrew Wear (62) had another century stand as Harden beat Knaresborough.
