End of the line for Pietersen as England are expected to keep door open for Finn

England are unlikely to follow Australia's lead by pulling many selection surprises for the ICC World Twenty20.

A 15-man squad is expected to be announced today and unlike Australia, who switched captain and plenty of other key personnel when they named theirs this week, England appear to have settled on their plans.

It is already abundantly clear, many times over from public and private conversations, that England will not be going back on their decision to dispense for good with Kevin Pietersen.

Their mercurial former record-breaking batsman has smashed enough Twenty20 runs around the world this winter to back up his declarations that he ‘would love’ to be involved.

But England’s 2010 man-of-the-tournament will not be back to try to win only their second global trophy – as captain Eoin Morgan unequivocally spelled out one more time on Monday.

England have undergone a white-ball revolution without Pietersen since their World Cup embarrassment last winter.

Their only quandary centres not on their batsmen but their pace bowling, although they will surely stick, almost to a man, to the squad which will be in action for two Twenty20s in South Africa next week.

The only likely exception will be the addition of Steven Finn, depending on the progress of his recovery from the side strain which has ruled him out here.
