Sheffield Collegiate gained their first win of the season – by 33 runs at Doncaster Town.

Joe Root was run out seven short of his century as Collegiate totalled 213-5. Doncaster recovered from 94-7 to 180 all out, No 9 batsman Jonathon Redfern making a defiant 59.

Reigning champions York, beaten three times by Yorkshire Academy last season, finally gained their revenge with a nine-wicket triumph at Clifton Park.

The Academy recovered from 71-5 to total 179-9, leg-spinner Tom Pringle taking 6-72 in 23 overs.

York’s batting heroes were Liam McKendry and Oliver Hairs who carried their bats for 76 and 74, respectively, and their partnership was worth 119.

Castleford opener Chris Ward made 112 but his side lost by six wickets to visitors Scarborough, for whom Andy Simpson and Darren Harland contributed half-centuries.

Aamer Sajjad struck his third century of the season for Driffield Town who defeated visitors Sheffield United by 63 runs. Sam Drury hit 74 and took two wickets for 27 runs off seven overs.

Barnsley won by 57 runs at Appleby Frodingham, Jonathan Trower hitting 10 boundaries in his 92 and Ryan Hercules taking 5-55.
