Graduating from white rose academy

YORKSHIRE's Academy has produced more than 60 players who have gone on to play first-class cricket.

Launched in 1988, it has played a key role in the development of county and international stars and goes from strength to strength.

Former England pace bowlers Darren Gough and Matthew Hoggard came up through the system, as did left-armer Ryan Sidebottom.

Other products include former England captain Michael Vaughan and ex-England players Craig White, Anthony McGrath, Gavin Hamilton and Richard Dawson.

All 11 Yorkshire players representing England this winter are Academy products.

The Academy was initially sited at Bradford Park Avenue, where former Yorkshire seam and spin bowler Bob Appleyard was instrumental in helping it get off the ground, before relocating to Headingley.
