Heavy defeat leaves Follifoot relegated

Follifoot slumped to defeat against champions Beckwithshaw, a loss that confirms their relegation after three seasons in Division One.

John Inglis (75), Ross Sedgley (56) and Rob Ellis (52) starred in Beckwithshaw’s 253-7 before Istikhar Hussain and Oliver Hotchkiss picked up cheap wickets to dismiss Follifoot for 92.

It took Inglis to 873 runs for the season, two behind his namesake Josh, who hit 96 as Pool ensured top-flight cricket next season with a nine-wicket win over Kirkstall.

Batsmen also shone at Otley where the home side took four points against Bilton and are now only three behind them in the battle to be runners-up.

Stewart Smith (120) and Matt O’Grady (50) top scored in Burley’s 267-8, while Chris Peareth, Chris Winn and Odge Davey hit half centuries in Bilton’s 248-7.

Steeton raced to a season-best 318-6 thanks to Neil Spragg (93no) and John Akrigg (78) and although Ollie Hardaker hit 72 in Collingham’s reply, James Emmott (5-46) saw them bowled out for 216.

Tallan Wright and Damon Reeve took four wickets each as Burley struggled to 164, but Guiseley found batting even harder and fell 10 short of victory.

Robbie Oldham (94) helped Ben Rhydding recover from a shaky start to post 211-9 before Jason Wright (5-30) dismissed Harden for 119.

There was a shock in the dog-fight at the top of Division Two with Knaresborough slipping out of the promotion places after being beaten by Colton, Tom Horner (4-27) doing most of the damage.

The other four hopefuls all won. Openers Jonathan Hughes (105) and Alex Bailey (68) put on 171 to put leaders Ilkley on the way to victory at Calverley, for whom Julian Thornhill scored 92.

Rawdon are now second after Ryan Gladwin (75), Andrew Doidge (71) and Anthony Gilks (45) saw them recover from 51-5 to 262 before John Hughes (5-52) dismissed Bardsey for 132.

Majid Khan (96) and Mahir Ali (5-60) starred as Thackley overcame North Leeds, while Tong Park Esholt made heavy weather of passing Adel’s 106, Nadeem Hanif taking 5-40.
