Hinchliffe strikes to dent Shepley hopes

LIAM Wiles took six wickets against Golcar but second-placed Shepley failed to put the pressure on leaders Hoylandswaine, whose match was cut short by bad light.

Shepley needed to reduce Hoylandswaine’s lead with matches running out, but visitors Golcar had different ideas, winning by nine runs. Golcar totalled 163-9 and Danny Glover made an unbeaten 67 in the reply but Shepley fell for 154, Will Hinchliffe claiming five victims.

Hoylandswaine’s match at Meltham was delicately poised with the visitors on 151-7 in 38.3 overs when bad light brought a premature finish. Meltham totalled 184-5 with the overs reduced to 45-a-side. Sarjinder Pal Singh struck an undefeated 68 for Hoylandswaine.

All-rounder Arron Lilley made 125 and took 3-14 as Delph & Dobcross crushed Skelmanthorpe by 175 runs.

Kasir Maroof had made an undefeated 122 when bad light ended play with Holmfirth on 215-4 in 38 overs in reply to Honley’s 285-7. Timmy Taylor hit 94 and took four wickets for Honley.

Barkisland had a one-wicket win against Kirkburton with one over to spare. Leg-spinner Chris Williams took five wickets for Barkisland and Iqbal Khan hit a personal season’s best 86 not out.

Scholes declared at 208-5 in 42 overs at Elland and won by 95 runs, Tom Chadwick and Tom Brook enjoying half-centuries.

Bilal Khiljee hit 83 and took 4-38 in 18 overs in Shelley’s 109 runs victory against Slaithwaite, while Martin Sykes grabbed three wickets for no runs.

Kirkheaton are promoted from the Conference to the Championship despite losing to Thurstonland, while Emley drop into the Conference.

Faisal Siddiq took 9-48 for Paddock at Birkby Rose Hill.
