Jared Warner leaves Yorkshire CCC for Gloucestershire

Warner turned down a new contract with Yorkshire and is leaving in search of regular cricket.

The 23-year-old will join his new club at the end of the season.

“It wasn’t an easy decision to leave Yorkshire, but I feel the opportunity to go to Gloucestershire and hopefully play regular first-team cricket there is the best decision for myself and the development of my career going forward,” said Warner.

“I’d like to thank everyone at Yorkshire who has helped me to this point and I leave with some great friends at the club.”

Warner, who was born in Wakefield, made only two first team appearances for Yorkshire.

He played in the one-day match against Durham at Headingley in May last year and in the recent Bob Willis Trophy game at home to Lancashire.

Martyn Moxon, Yorkshire’s director of cricket, said: “Naturally we are disappointed to see Jared go, but wish him every success in the future.”

No play was possible before lunch on day two of the Bob Willis Trophy match against Leicestershire at Headingley due to rain.

An early lunch was called for 12.15pm ahead of a 12.45pm inspection, with better weather forecast this afternoon.

Yorkshire are 36-2 in reply to Leicestershire’s 124, pace bowler Ben Coad starring with 5-18.
