Jordan Laban cuts loose as Yorkshire leagues hit by rain

Bilal (69) and Harvey (57) put on 96 in a 188 total before Jack Hughes (3-8) and Harry Clewett (3-36) helped bowl out Saints for 131.

With players dodging showers or kicking their heels with frustration across the county, Hanging Heaton ripped into the Wrenthorpe attack, racing to 220-5 in 24 overs.

Sam Drury (53), Gary Fellows (44) and Ben Kohler-Cadmore (44no) were the main contributors before a 4-14 spell from Callum Bethel clinched a victory that sends Heaton to the top of the table.

In the only other match completed, Jordan Laban hit 12 fours and four sixes in his century that was the highlight as Methley notched their first win of the season, beating Batley by 84 runs.

Sheffield Collelgiate’s 100 per cent start to the Yorkshire South season came to a halt after Michael Jepps (52no) helped Cawthorne recover from 17-4 to 139-8. Steve Nuttall then followed up a knock of 32 with 3-26 as Collegiate were bowled out four runs short of victory despite a spirited 44 from Isaac Parkin.

After James Smedley (4-19) had Wakefield Thornes on the back foot, an unbeaten stand of 90 from Greg Wadsworth (71no) and Tom Froggett (38no) saw them recover to set a 175-7 target. But with Andre Bradford (81no) leading the way, Hallam got home with four wickets to spare.

In the final over of a match reduced to 18 overs each, Neil Longhurst (54no) and James Brown (9no) grabbed the nine runs Whitley Hall needed to overtake Barnsley’s 86-7.

Doncaster Town also left it late to stretch their winning run to six matches, having just two balls to spare when they overtook Wickersley’s 169-8, which included a lively half-century from Gareth Purshouse.

Three run-outs helped restrict Appleby Frodingham to 112, a total Treeton openers Stephen Foster (59no) and Archie Ogden (39no) passed with ease.

In Yorkshire North, David Wainwright included three wickets in four balls in a 4-13 spell to dismiss Acomb for 127 before Brayden Clark (41no) led Castleford’s successful run chase.

Harry Adair (63no) was the main contributor to York’s 205-6 and despite a battling 59 from opener Andrew Simpson, Clifton Alliance crashed out for 128, Tom Fosdike picking up 5-36.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge lost two quick wickets but brothers Adam (73) and Mark Fisher (43) steadied things and the final 216-4 total proved far too rich for Harrogate.

Andrew Bilton (64) was top scorer in Dunnington’s 127-7 on the way to a 21-run win at Stamford Bridge.

Yesterday, James Finch was run out by Mark Goddard on the last ball to leave Woodhouse Grange one run short of victory over Driffield Town.

Grant Halder (54) and Noah Kelly (67no) starred in Town’s 152-4 before Grange were set a rain-affected target of 150 in 28 overs.

Henry Wilson (38no) and Finch (37) took them to the brink only to be frustrated at the death.

Defending champions Otley continue to dominate the Airedale and Wharfedale League, their sixth straight win of the season coming after James Davies (5-21) and Stephen Brown (3-18) skittled Horsforth for 46.

Three cheap wickets each for Jack Hodges and Ross Jennings dismissed Follifoot for 90. Ben Morley then hit 64 not out as Rawdon eased home by nine wickets.

Jamie Bryant (90) and Ryan Bradshaw (43) put on 91 as Bilton made 207-9 despite the efforts of Henry Wilson (4-27) and Will Lennard (4-68).

Tuseif Arshad (5-17) had Ilkley’s reply on the ropes but the rain saved them at 59-5.

The rain also saved Collingham who were struggling at 173-9 in reply to Addingham’s 216 which included 84 from Robbie Miller, while a 6-25 spell from Henry Barrow restricted Olicanian to 108, Ryan Cooper (64no) seeing Burley to victory.

The Huddersfield League was decimated by the rain but Holmfirth sealed their first win of the season, beating winless Almondbury by six wickets.

Glyn Brown took 3-9 as the visitors were restricted to 73-7 in a 20-over match and Neil Harris (30no) eased Holmfirth to victory.
