Leaders Treeton can see the finishing line

With just one more weekend to close down the League for the year, top-flight section leaders Treeton have a three-point lead over Whitley Hall, and Elsecar, and would have to lose their last game of the season, at home to Darfield next weekend, for their rivals to overtake them.

Whitley Hall’s final match is at home to Wickersley, Elsecar entertain Coal Aston with the other Premier Division games being Hallam v Tickhill, Norton Oakes v Whiston, and Wath at home to Aston Hall.

In Division Two, Aston Hall made 177, teenager with Nathan Ward cracking 81, including eight boundaries, and there were three wickets each for Oughtibridge’s Thomas Starkes and Adil Nasim.

Oughtibridge were just short, at 171-8, Matt Tyers scoring 49, Thomas Starkes 40, and Tim Shaw claiming 4-46 for Hall.

Elsecar got rid of Wickersley for 120, with Ethan Gray taking 5-31 and Mark Hope 4-28. The Armroyd Laners won by nine wickets thanks to Adrian Meadows (47no) and Ethan Gray (43).

In Division Three, Thorncliffe closed on 140-5, Mike Alexander slamming an unbeaten 114, 92 of which came in boundaries. Mike Denton chipped in with 50, before visitors Coal Aston clung on at 58-9, Alexander taking 5-6.

The only match in Division Four saw Millhouses Works come in at 207-5, with an unbeaten 57 from Waseem Dar. Visitors Mexborough Athletic went close before finishing at 203-5, Mike Faley and Ryan Tingle each striking 53.

In Division Five, Penistone held Mexborough Athletic to 
154-8 and replied with 155-4, opener Paul Richards scoring 44 and John Williams 42 not out.
