Paynter sparkles for unbeaten Wrenthorpe

Solly Central Yorkshire TOWNVILLE and New Farnley failed to avenge their Jack Hampshire Trophy semi-final defeats when they lost to the Premier Division's top two teams for the second time in six days.

All-rounder David Paynter struck 38 and bagged 3-42 as Wrenthorpe maintained their unbeaten record in all competitions this season with a two-wicket victory over Townville, whose defeat was hard on opener Tim Walton (83) and Greig Batty (43 and 3-36).

Wrenthorpe stayed 14 points ahead of closest rivals Methley, who ended New Farnley's title hopes by beating them by two wickets.

An eighth-wicket stand of 75 betweeen Mohammed Hafeez (43) and Matthew Rushworth (39no) was in vain for Northowram Fields, who finished on 165-8, replying to Liversedge's 172-7 that included an unbeaten half-century by Jonathan Trevitt.
