Twitchen century in vain for Wetherby


Bramhope's promotion hopes were rocked by a one-wicket defeat at Old Leodiensians, who continued their revival with their third straight win.

Richard Sadler (95no) and Tim Gibbs (30) put on 88 for the eighth wicket as Leodiensians overhauled Bramhope's 176 that featured 85 by Tony Gilks.

Church Fenton stayed on course for the Division Two title when Ishmail Patel (6-42) and Makbul Mulla (40) gave them the edge at Saxton, whose seven-run defeat was hard on Gareth Bottomley (77).

Fenton are nine points ahead of second-placed Garforth Parish Church, who stepped up their bid to win promotion for the second successive season by beating Bilton in Ainsty by one wicket.

Ian Twitchen's 134 was in vain for Wetherby in a 16-run defeat against Division One leaders Old Modernians.

Wetherby were bowled out for 207, replying to Modernians' 223 that included 48 by Simon Leeds and 44 from Mark Ripley.

Shadwell and St Chad's maintained their bids.

A century by Alex Blakeborough was the highlight of Shadwell's 99-run win against bottom-team East Keswick while Mansoor Hussain (57) and Dan Izzard (4-37) steered St Chad's to a five-wicket success against Kirk Deighton.

Barwick-in-Elmet were the easiest winners when they trounced Scarcroft by 221 runs.
