VIDEO: Bresnan looking forward to busy summer with both club and country

TIM Bresnan is happy with his recovery from injury as he prepares for what he hopes will be a big year with both Yorkshire and England.

The 28-year-old all-rounder missed the recent England tour to New Zealand to
undergo an operation on his right elbow. He has been increasing his fitness gradually at Yorkshire and
although he will not be ready for the opening County Championship game against Sussex at Headingley on Wednesday, he hopes to return for the three-day friendly against Lancashire at the same venue next week (April 16-18).

Not only is it a big summer for Bresnan with his county as it looks to mark it’s 150th anniversary with some silverware, but there is the small matter of back-to-back Ashes series’ for England.

The international season begins with a two-Test series against New Zealand and Bresnan appreciates his time away from the international scene through injury presents him with a tough battle to get himself back into the England starting line-up.

“The injury is coming along well, it shouldn’t be too long before I’m back fully fit and playing,” Bresnan told www.yorkshirepost.co.uk

“It’s always frustrating being out injured but that’s what you’ve got to expect sometimes with it being professional cricket and with the amount of cricket that we play and with the kind of intensity you encounter. You’re going to pick up injuries - it’s inevitable.”

With it being such a important year, Bresnan said it would be ideal to cap Yorkshire’s celebrations with a trophy - the biggest prize obviously being in the four-day game which, as the season gets underway, seems to be wide-open.

“I think we’ve got the team to challenge if we can be consistent throughout the year - we’ve certainly got the strength in depth,” added Bresnan.

“We’re back in Division One of the County Championship, it’s Yorkshire’s 150th year and it would be great to mark that with some kind of silverware.”

With regard to his England hopes for this summer, Bresnan added: “The Ashes is obviously going to be in the back of my mind.

“But I’m just taking things one game at a time with me coming back from injury.”
