Dunnington's own home fixture, together with their second team trip to Pickering was postponed when the League committee supported their request due to their unprecedented predicament which saw more than a dozen of their players stranded in the West Indies due to their homeward flight falling victim of the Icelandic volcano.

Pocklington's Hugh Attwood hit 177 in Division Five A against Cawood, sharing a second-wicket stand of 249 with Gary Milner (101no).

Sewerby's Russ Robinson took 8-13 came in a 13-over spell which included nine maidens and shot out Harrogate for 77 in Division Two.

York teenager Andrew Simpson hit his maiden league century when he was unbeaten with 120 as his side hit 306-2 at Hornsea.

Simpson became the third generation of centurions as he joined his father David, with whom he shared a first-wicket stand of 98, and grandfather Tony in the league's list of century-makers.

Whitkirk reduced hosts Selby to 93-9 before Gareth Roberts (86no) and John Nuerden (23no) joined forces in a league record 10th-wicket stand when they added an undefeated 98 to lift the total to a match-winning 191-9.

Thirsk recorded an important morale-boosting win at the expense of Acomb.

Paul Hemmingway made 30 and Joe Dale (28) for the York-based side but a useful return of 4-31 pegged them to 125-9. Despite the departure of Liam Mckendry and Sean Holmes, Thirsk were able to make a positive response against an attack lacking the services of the retired Dave Sykes.

McKendry made 44 and, with a solid 38 from evergreen Des Wyrill and an unbeaten 26

from the youthful Ben England, Thirsk cruised to a seven-wicket victory.

Fenner faced a tough trip to title favourites Clifton Alliance as they made their Premier Division debut and claimed a draw at 182-8 after Clifton's two new recruits both made useful contributions to their 225-4.

Former Woodhouse Grange man Joel Hughes top-scored with 66 and former Thirsk player Sean Holmes reached 27.
