Wainwright excels with double-century

PREMIER Division title contenders Wrenthorpe have started the season impressively, scoring 943 runs in three league and cup victories.

Eric Austin (96no) shared an opening century partnership with Gary Fellows (59) and put on 95 with David Paynter (40) as Wrenthorpe overhauled Birstall's 250-9.

Craig Wood (97) and James Keen (45) shared a 102-run stand as Birstall recovered from 31-2. Wrenthorpe's Luke Patel claimed 5-52.

Wrenthorpe are two points behind leaders Northowram Fields, who are the only top-flight team with a 100 per cent record after beating Wakefield St Michael's by 58 runs.

Tim Walton hammered an unbeaten 89 off 101 deliveries and former Wickersley batsman Jonathan Trower made 44 not out as Townville achieved their second win by beating Ossett by nine wickets.
