Bradford

HANGING HEATON’S thrilling one-run win over leaders Pudsey St Lawrence and Woodlands’ four-wicket defeat by East Bierley have given another twist to the Division One title chase.

With Cleckheaton recording a six-wicket win over Undercliffe, the top four are covered by just 20 points with six games to go.

Pudsey St Lawrence (237) still have a 12-point advantage over Woodlands (225) despite their fourth defeat in five matches, with Cleckheaton (221) and Hanging Heaton (217) in pursuit.

St Lawrence were beaten off the final ball of the extra over they had secured for bowling out Hanging Heaton for 211. Calllam Goldthorp (61) was run out as he and last man Joshua Wilson tried to level the scores.

Barrie Frankland (49) was the other main contributor for St Lawrence as two of their former players, Gary Fellows (3-12) and David Stiff (3-58), struck key blows. Ismail Dawood top scored with 41 for Hanging Heaton.

East Bierley dismissed Woodlands for 73, Awais Ejaz (6-31) and Richard Atkins (4-31) doing the damage before ex-Woodlands stalwart Nick Rushworth (31no) steered his side home.

Cleckheaton opener Andy Gorrod’s made 112 not out, his third century of the season, as they romped home by six wickets at Undercliffe. Pacemen Iain Wardlaw (5-86) and Curtis Free (4-37) dismissed the home side for 165 despite 55 from overseas player Fahim Ashraf.

Yorkshire Second’ James Wainman made 129 not out, his maiden Bradford League century, but could not save relegation-threatened Farsley from a 55-run defeat to Bradford & Bingley.

Central Yorkshire

CHRIS HOLLIDAY hammered the Premiership’s highest individual score of the season with an unbeaten 168 off 142 balls as Townville maintained their title challenge.

Holliday put on 246 with Jonathan Booth (89) as they made 299-3 before declaring after 45 overs against Birstall, who were skittled for 83 by Jack Hughes (8-14).

Townville remain eight points adrift of leaders Methley, who were indebted to Marcus Walmsley (71) and twin Ed (46no) as they overhauled Altofts’ 245 with two balls remaining.

Wakefield Thornes and Wrenthorpe kept alive their hopes.

Faisal Irfan (62no), Matt Varley (46) and David Toft (43 and 4-15) led Wakefield Thornes to a 120-run win at Batley, who collapsed from 95-4 to 115 all out.

Neil Bourke (111) and Darryl Hendricks (54) shared an opening 127-run stand as Wrenthorpe posted 303-9 against Mirfield PC, whose reply fell 57 runs short, despite a 90-run partnership between Terence James (72) and Nazar Hussain (42).

Andrew McIntosh hit 55 and Robert Barker (51no) and Glen Thompson (39no) shared an unbroken 55-run ninth-wicket stand as Hunslet Nelson recovered from 84-6 to overhaul Buttershaw SP’s 206 that included 62 by Kevin McDermott.

ECB Yorkshire

OPENERS James Moorhouse and Mark Cummins’s third century partnership of the season gave Rotherham victory at Hull and kept the pressure on leaders Barnsley whom they meet next.

Cummins had picked up 5-62 as Hull fell for 230 in which Andy Simpson and Chris Grey hit half-centuries. He then scored 71 and put on 156 with Moorhouse (77). Anthony Del Borrello clinched the win with an unbeaten 58.

Rotherham are five points behind Barnsley, who restricted Driffield to 178 with Zohaib Ahmed taking 4-36. Jonathan Trower (42) led the reply, brothers Daniel and Azeem Rafiq hit a lively 38 each and Ahmed finished things off with 32 not out.

York are still in the race after victory over Doncaster. Ryan McKendry (102) and Alex Collins (53) put on 125 and with a half-century from Liam McKendry, York set a 300-7 target.

Doncaster opener Gareth Cox (44) gave them a solid start and Felix Odell (70) shared big stands with Stuart Guy (93) and Luke Townsend (22) but when he was out at 275, the last two wickets fell with only one run added.

Defending champions Yorkshire Academy made short work of Harrogate. Jared Warner (5-20) and James Logan (3-17) skittled the home side for 86 and Ben Ainsley (44) ensured there were no slip-ups as Academy notched a fourth successive win.

Alex Osmond took 7-30 as Castleford were dismissed for 182 with Andrew Chadwick (42) and Charles Finan (43) the main contributors. Cleethorpes were reeling at 56-5 before Bill Kirby (71), James Keast (36) and Ryan Harrison (39no) steered them to a three wicket win.

Daniel Walton (92), Simon Guy (87) and Michael Simpson (40) led the way in Sheffield Collegiate’s 286-7 before Appleby Frodingham for 145.

Huddersfield

ALL-ROUNDER Tom Brook was outstanding as Scholes stayed on course for the Premiership title.

Brook hit 104 and claimed 4-55 in a 127-run win over Elland that kept Scholes 13 points clear of closest rivals Hoylandswaine.

Peter Drysdale (58), Tom Chadwick (48) and Joe Carter (38) were also in form as Scholes made 313-7, the top-flight’s highest total of the day.

Alex Morris (86no) steered Hoylandswaine to an eight-wicket win over lowly Moorlands, who were toppled for 162 by Javed Iqbal (5-46).

Liam Fletcher hit 62 off 56 balls as Skelmanthorpe improved their chances of avoiding relegation by beating Honley by six wickets.

Bottom team Slaithwaite had a 130-run defeat against Shelley, for whom Abdul Wahid, Yousaf Hasnat and Joe Sykes hit half-centuries.

Chris Laker (98no) and Asim Khurshid (6-91) shone for Delph and Dobcross in a six-wicket win against Broad Oak, whose defeat was tough on Henry Cooper (128).

Greg Wood (76no) and Oliver Davidson (4-56) were Shepley’s match-winners at Golcar.

Liam Wiles hit an unbeaten 46 and snapped up 4-17 as Championship leaders Cawthorne beat Lascelles Hall.

Muhammad Kashif’s 7-35 was in vain for Meltham in a low-scoring game against Mardsen.

Kashif skittled Marsden for 97 but they were rescued by Moin Hussain (3-12) and Dan Clee (3-24), who routed Meltham for 93, despite Darren Hinchliffe’s half-century.

Mitchell McCoach smashed 101 off 77 balls in Conference leaders Rastrick’s nine-wicket win against Upperthong.

South Yorkshire

WHITLEY HALL are back in form with a vengeance.

Conisbrough is not a big ground but they still will not have seen many higher scores than Whitley Hall’s 408-6 on Saturrday.

Neil Longhurst made 213 and put on 260 for the fourth wicket with Jim Tasker (60) after another strong start from Anthony Wilson (61).

Conisbrough could not get half way and fell for 200 as Greig Batty took 3-54.

Aston Hall had little difficulty overcoming Hallam, who, missing the injured Nick Dymock, could only register 123 as Steve Ludlam captured 5-37.

Adam Whiteley struck an unbeaten 71 and Joe Barker made 40 as Aston completed the nine-wicket win in 20 overs.

Coal Aston did much better against Treeton. David Rodgers (100) and Liam Johnson (94) took them to 258-4, a winning score against most teams, but Steve Foster (95), Scott Cunningham (59) and Gareth Davis (49no) made light of it as Treeton won with just three down.

Houghton Main got themselves in a similar position against Elsecar, scoring 255-6, Michel Brown, Tanzeel Ali and Yousaf Rehman all registering half-centuries.

Elsecar struggled to 150-8 in reply as Michael Bates took 3-16.

Wickersley overtook Tickhill in the table. Iftikhar Afzal (4-28) and Mohammed Ilyas (3-26) combined to help dismiss Tickhill for 138, before Wickersley reached 140-6, led by 61 from Shaajhan Younis.

Wath got a valuable win, Shawn Dyson making 94 not out from 222-5 to overtake Darfield’s 219-6, of which James Ward made 72 and Michael Topp an unbeaten 55.

So Treeton remain top of the table, two points ahead of Aston Hall and three ahead of Whitley.

OPENERS Alexis Twigg (102) and Ben Quick (50) shared a 136-run stand to put Beckwithshaw on the way to a maximum points win over Follifoot and reduce the gap to leaders Otley to eight points.

With Ross Sedgeley (33) and Miles Buller (46no) adding quick runs, the home side eased to 292-5. Mark McEnearney than produced a 6.2-over spell of 5-27 as Follifoot were pegged at 122.

Otley bowled out Steeton for 107 with James Davies and Sam Blake each picking up four cheap wickets. Jamie Pickering (42no) and Ben Morley (42) led the way to an eight-wicket win but with no chance of batting points, Otley are left in a title battle.

Burley thrashed third-placed Kirkstall. Sami Rehman (115), Nick Brook (56) and Ed Brown (44) starred in Burley’s 276-6 before Brook took 5-9 as Kirkstall were skittled for 75.

Rawdon No 7 Ryan Gladwin was out one short of his century but he and Andrew Duckworth (54) ensured their side recovered from 33-5 to set a 236-8 target. That proved far too good for Guiseley, who fell for 148.

A century stand from openers Jack Harrison (51) and Brian Leigh (54) put Collingham on the way to a three-wicket win over Ilkley after Toby Jacklin (4-22) helped restrict the visitors to 175 which included a half century from Rory Kroon.

Adam Copley took 5-69 as Bilton were restricted to 204-9 but North Leeds stumbled to 113 in 28.1 overs.

Division Two Harden captain Paul Quinlan (6-30) who included a hat-trick and two in two to finish the innings and then hit a half-century to lead his team to victory over Tong Park Esholt.

Taylor Beard followed up a knock of 137 with 7-29 to help Old Modernians to a Division Three win over Upper Wharfedale.

York Senior

THE top three in the Premier Division remain unchanged for the first time in over a month.

Leaders Sheriff Hutton Bridge won at Fenner, Robert Pinder (76no) and Adam Fisher (32no) guiding them to an eight-wicket win after Russell Robinson (5-45) had helped restrict the hosts to 176-8.

Mark Fisher got the reply off to positive start with 43 before the third-wicket pair secured a fourth consecutive victory.

Woodhouse Grange took on title rivals Acomb and Michael Hattee scored an unbeaten 103 as the hosts recovered from 10-2 thanks to a stand of 128 between him and Nick Hadfield (60). Andrew Brewster’s 5-43 helped restrict the home side to 213-7. Joe Dale dominated the visitors’ 214-7 with his second century of the season, an unbeaten 135. No other batsman reached 20. Tom Quinn took 4-44 in a losing cause against the second-placed side.

Third-placed Stamford Bridge got the better of a draw at Dunnington as the home side’s last wicket pair held out at 205-9.

Sam Tennant’s 113 was the highlight of the visitors’ 270-7 which was boosted by Kevin Murphy’s unbeaten 39 at the end.
