Yorkshire run cold in final warm-up

YORKSHIRE warmed up for their defence of the Emirates Airlines T20 trophy with a five-wicket defeat to Leicestershire in Dubai.

In their solitary practice game prior to today’s trophy tournament, Yorkshire were second-best as the Foxes won with four balls to spare.

Yorkshire were sent in and scored 135-9 from their 20 overs, Gary Ballance top-scoring with 38. Alex Lees chipped in with 18 and Tim Bresnan 17, Wayne White taking 3-21 and Rob Sayer 2-24.

Lewis Hill led Leicestershire home with an unbeaten 58 out of 141-5. Mark Pettini provided good support with 33 and Tom Wells contributed 21.

Yorkshire pace bowler Ben Coad returned 2-26 from 3.2 overs, and left-arm spinner Karl Carver took 1-26 from four overs.

In the Emirates Trophy, which follows the format of T20 Finals Day, Yorkshire take on MCC in the second semi-final after Lancashire meet the UAE.
