Discipline key for Leeds to extend run

Rugby Union: Diccon Edwards has called on his Leeds Carnegie players to improve their execution and discipline as they look to make it three wins in a row against Plymouth tomorrow.

“Our indiscipline in the contact area allowed Moseley field position last week and if we do the same against Plymouth from 30 metres out, their driving lineout will hurt us,” said the head coach.

“We are creating a number of opportunities, but our decision-making and our execution in the offload is something we have worked hard on to improve this week. The lads are starting to appreciate what they need to do right to develop as a team and they’ve received a confidence boost from the last two victories.”

Niggling injuries have forced Edwards into a number of changes. Scott Freer and Richard Beck are only fit enough to make the bench allowing Phil Nilsen to start at hooker and Sean Hohneck to return at lock. Iain Thornley and Michael Stephenson return in the backs while Ryan Burrows is out with an ankle strain.

A win would take Leeds into the Championship’s top eight for the first time this season.
