Every game is huge for Steelers, insists Simon

BEN SIMON insists his Sheffield Steelers team cannot afford to take one night off in their bid to secure a third Elite League title.

The South Yorkshire club need to win six of their last eight games to be sure of lifting the regular season trophy, adding to earlier triumphs in 2004 and 2009.

Play-off hopefuls Dundee Stars are next up for the Steelers tomorrow (7.30pm) at the Motorpoint Arena, with the league leaders looking to extend the seven-point advantage they hold over second-placed Belfast Giants.

The Steelers gave their title bid a huge boost at the weekend by taking maximum points from their home and away double against title rivals Cardiff Devils.

And while they go into tomorrow’s game with Dundee as firm favourites to record a sixth win of the season over the Scottish side, Simon says no games will prove easy between now and March 20.

“Every game from here on in is huge for us,” said Simon.

“Every game from this point is going to be treated as our biggest game of the season.

“We have to make sure that we take care of business in the next month. We are playing well and the guys are all excited having got ourselves into such a position.”
