Fightback proves in vain for Driffield

Driffield’s season of woe continued against potential league winners.

No team in the league has scored more bonus points than Driffield but they are ninth after winning only four matches.

They turned round 22-0 down but fought back after tries by prop Anthony Carr, Steve Stockdale and Jonny Boatman, plus two conversions and a penalty by Gareth Foreman had left them reeling.

They pulled back a try by scrum-half Craig Gray which Lee Birch converted. Outside centre Tom Wright then raced over for a converted try and Birch added a penalty to set up a tense final 10 minutes.
