But Reading levelled three minutes from the end when substitute Jon Dadi Bodvarsson drilled home from an acute angle.
“It is very difficult to analyse,” said Hull head coach Leonid Slutsky.

“Everybody is very disappointed because we had more chances to win and we controlled the match.
“We had clear chances, we hit the bar from a free-kick and it is really difficult to take. We worked very hard and we had patience as well. We just need to win and we will wait for that win to come.

“Is not winning away a mental problem? Yes, maybe. But a mental problem is difficult to research or change.”
Reading manager Jaap Stam criticised the club’s fans after some sections of the Madejski Stadium crowd jeered him and his side.

“You need to write something about that. You cannot only jeer when it’s not going well and then for the rest of the game we don’t hear from you.
“As a fan, you need to support your team and not jeer against them. The players are working very hard to get a result, to do well and to win their games.
“It’s not only the fans who think about winning.”
Stam was also booed when making his substitutions.

“They need to look at themselves and not at me.
“We fought very hard to get back into the game and I thought we deserved the equaliser and a point.”
