Barnsley allow Hume to join Preston

The 26-year-old has arrived at Deepdale on a 93-day loan with a view to a permanent transfer and is expected to go straight into the squad for the visit of Norwich on Saturday.

Hume, who suffered a fractured skull in 2008, has made just two first-team appearances for Barnsley this season and is relishing the chance to get regular football.

He said: "Whenever I have played here in the past there have been decent crowds and they do get on your back a bit when you are the away team.

"It'll be good to be on the home side now, it will be a different story but hopefully we can get the crowd behind us and push forward."
