Barnsley snap up Dickinson

BRIGHTON striker Liam Dickinson has joined Championship outfit Barnsley for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old, who had two years left on his contract with Albion, passed a medical at Oakwell and has signed a two-year contract with the option for a third year.

Tykes manager Mark Robins told the club's official website: "He's only 24 and still has room for improvement and we're looking forward to working with him here.

"He has a decent scoring record both in the Championship and in the lower leagues and will be a good addition to our squad for the new season."

Dickinson, Barnsley's fourth summer signing, was brought to the Withdean Stadium by Russell Slade in August 2009, but struggled to maintain a first-team place once Gus Poyet was appointed as manager and finished last season on loan at Peterborough.
