The midfielder, impressive during his time at the club, returned to parent club Wigan recently after the Latics activated a clause.

But with the Reds able to purchase Morsy for a set fee until May, another proviso inserted into the initial loan deal, and the player keen to move, a switch appears likely with personal terms being the final hurdle to clear.

He said: "We knew they would call him back, so straightaway slapped in the agreed fee which was all agreed in advance.

"It's just a case of trying to get personal terms agreed and the deal done."

Heckingbottom says reports linking defender Marc Roberts with West Bromwich and Burnley are pure speculation.

Meanwhile, midfielder George Moncur is back in the fold following his loan at Peterborough, with the player keen to knuckle down and fight for his place, according to Heckingbottom.
