Barnsley's Heckingbottom leads manager of the month nominations

BARNSLEY are in the running for the League One manager of the month accolade for the fourth successive month - with Paul Heckingbottom having been handed his second successive nomination.

The caretaker head coach, whose side amassed ten points from 15 last month, is among four nominees for the March accolade, along with former Reds chief Keith Hill - now boss at Rochdale - Colchester United’s Kevin Keen and Walsall’s Jon Whitney.

Heckingbottom was also shortlisted for the February award following an identical haul of ten points from five matches.

His successor Lee Johnson - among the nominees for December - won the gong for January, with the players’ accolade going to Sam Winnall.

Barnsley defender Alfie Mawson was also shortlisted for the League One player going in February.

Meanwhile, Bradford City have received their second successive monthly nomination for the League One player of the month award after defender Nathan Clarke was shortlisted - following on from James Hanson’s nomination for February.

Clarke - who helped the Bantams to three clean sheets in six games and provided two assists - is competing with Burton’s Mark Duffy, Wigan striker Will Grigg and Shrewsbury Town winger Sullay Kaikai.

The winners will be announced on Friday.
