Bournemouth 1 Huddersfield Town 1: Cadamarteri confident Town have character to sustain challenge

Huddersfield manager Lee Clark fears his team’s heavy programme is catching up with them and threatening to hamper their League One promotion bid.

Clark watched third-placed Huddersfield labour to earn a point at Dean Court, equalising in the last minute through substitute Danny Cadamarteri.

But the Terriers’ chief could see that a long sequence of matches to include the epic FA Cup struggle is beginning to take a toll.

Clark takes his team to Dagenham and Redbridge tomorrow hoping they can somehow sustain their challenge.

“I think the number of games the lads have had has caught up with them. We looked tired mentally and physically.

“The run we have had this year has made huge demands on our resources in terms of players. That was our worst performance by a long way.

“I think we scored with our only shot on target and this is a worry because we have many more games still to be played.’’

Former Sheffield Wednesday striker Michael Symes put Bournemouth ahead but Cadamarteri levelled with his second goal for Huddersfield since rejoining in January.

Cadamarteri said: “Dagenham is going to be hard for us. They are fighting for their lives and we just have to be prepared for another battle. The way we played against Arsenal showed we can compete against the top teams and that we have the character to pull us through.

“All the top teams in this division still have to play each other so taking a point against Bournemouth was a good result.

“I am not 100 per cent match-fit but I am getting there. Once I am match-fit I am sure I can make a contribution to what I hope is a promotion campaign.’’
