Bradford City 2 Aldershot 1: Taylor delighted with fighting spirit

The Jamaican was sidelined for most of last year with a serious knee injury, but he is now fit and he fired home a 25-yard strike which proved the winner.

City slipped to defeat at Aldershot earlier this month and the visitors took advantage of some sloppy Bradford defending to take the lead after eight minutes.

Scott Donnelly was given too much room to drive in a long-range shot which Matt Glennon could only push across his area, allowing Anthony Straker to score.

City started sluggishly, but with the energetic Michael Flynn setting the tone they levelled within six minutes. He chased down the right and whipped over a cross and striker James Hanson made the most of the opportunity with a super diving header into the top corner of the net.

Play-off chasers Aldershot were on the back foot and seven minutes later Daley struck.

Midfielder Luke O'Brien stretched the defence with his strong run and, although his cross was half-cleared, Daley worked the ball onto his left foot before striking a top finish from just outside the area.

Taylor took the opportunity to give a first start to towering centre-half Luke Oliver and the debutant impressed until 20 minutes from time when he allowed substitute Marvin Morgan to find space and pick out Marlon Jackson, who failed to hit the empty net with his close range header.
