Bradford 4 Chesham 0: City’s late double adds to ease of progress

Bradford defeated Premier League clubs Chelsea and Sunderland on their way to the quarter-final last season.

“We have some fantastic cup memories,” said Parkinson. “Chesham are a good team at their level and I am pleased with the way we approached the game.

“The first half was excellent and we played some great football and scored two goals. We got through, which is the important thing and to score four goals and keep a clean sheet is great.”

Bradford dominated the first half and went in front after 23 minutes with a superb right-foot shot from winger Kyel Reid before doubling their lead two minutes before half-time when James Hanson latched on to a long pass from Lee Evans to score with a right-foot shot.

In a more even second period, City ended the game with a flourish, scoring two goals in stoppage time through substitutes Gary Liddle and Devante Cole, both laid on by Tony McMahon.

Liddle turned in McMahon’s corner at the near post and a minute later Cole scored from close range from McMahon’s cross.

Four minutes from the end goalkeeper Ben Williams did well to stop Ryan Blake’s goal-bound shot with his legs.
