It took only 10 minutes for an impressive Bantams to take the lead, Billy Clarke scrambling Jon Stead’s cross over the line, before the provider turned scorer 20 minutes later when he doubled the home side’s advantage.

Any hope Dartford had of making some kind of a comeback were killed off with two goals in as many minutes by Phil Parkinson’s side just before the hour mark.

Filipe Morais made it 3-0 in the 58th minute when he scored from 25 yards. Mark Yeates then put City out of sight when he curled in a delightful effort from the edge of the box.

Six minutes later, Lee Noble got the visitors on the scoresheet but, as expected, it turned out to be nothing more than a consolation effort.

Danny Wilson’s Barnsley also will also be in the third round draw, but will have to wait a bit longer to rubber-stamp their place there after being held 0-0 at home by Chester.

The Conference visitors certainly gave their League One hosts plenty to worry about during the course of the match, Ross Turnbull pushing Craig Mahon’s effort on to the crossbar, while Craig Hobson’s header was cleared off the line by Joe Dudgeon.

Kane Hemmings missed a good chance to seal the win for Barnsley and the side must do it all again at Chester.
