Fixtures 2015-16: Tricky opener for Bradford at fellow promotion hopefuls Swindon

BRADFORD CITY have been handed a tough long trip to beaten League One finalists Swindon Town on the first day of the 2015-16 campaign following the release of the Football League’s fixtures.

The Robins beat City twice last term and are unbeaten in seven matches against them, with Phil Parkinson’s side’s first home appointment arriving against promoted Shrewsbury Town on August 15.

Bradford are pitted into early derby action when they make the trip to Oakwell to face Barnsley on August 22 and they are handed another close trip to Oldham on September 5.

City welcome Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United on September 19 and face short journeys to Rochdale (October 3) and Doncaster Rovers (October 17) the following month.

Bradford host Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink’s Burton on Boxing Day, when ex-Bantams custodian Jon McLaughlin makes his return to Valley Parade.

A visit to Bramall Lane follows two days later against the Blades, who were refused permission to speak with Phil Parkinson about their managerial position recently before plumping for Nigel Adkins.

City entertain Barnsley on January 9 and welcome Oldham seven days later with the seaside trip to Blackpool pencilled in for February 27.

Doncaster head to Valley Parade on March 12 and Millwall, involved in a combustive clash at City in the FA Cup last season, visit on March 26.

City’s last away game is a long trek to Southend on April 30 and they end at home to Chesterfield on May 8.
