Parkinson warns City not clear of danger

The Bantams have lifted themselves clear of immediate danger at the foot of the Football League in recent weeks with a run that has brought just two defeats in 12 games.

Included in that run have been hugely impressive back-to-back wins at Torquay United and Barnet, the latter – a 4-0 triumph – being the first time Bradford had scored four goals on the road in a decade.

Parkinson said: “The defenders did well against Barnet and did their jobs properly, while we also passed the ball simply.

“Then, when the ball was played up front, I always thought our attackers had the beating of the Barnet defence.

“I was really pleased with the professionalism of the whole side and it means we are nicely set up for the trip to Dagenham & Redbridge.”

The Bantams’ upturn in form means they travel to Essex seven points clear of danger, Dagenham & Redbridge being the side occupying the second relegation spot.

Parkinson is fully aware, therefore, that defeat would be enough to drag the Bantams back towards the drop zone – underlining why he is adamant there is still a long way to go in the fight for survival.

He added: “We know we are not safe and we need a strong team to go down to Dagenham. Nothing else will be good enough.”

Meanwhile, City have launched their latest cut-price season ticket deal with a novel attempt to attract floating supporters.

Under the scheme, adults will pay £199 – or £8.65 a game – with over-60s and students in full-time education paying £149.

In a new twist, however, a 50-50 flexi card is also available which offers reductions for fans who watch only half of Bradford’s home games. For £50, they will get a membership card and can reserve their seat for the season – with a reduction of 50 per cent on the admission price per game.

The offer will remain available until May 31, after which the club expect the price in every category to rise by around £100.

Bradford usually launch their season-ticket offer before Christmas but concerns over the club’s League status being under threat led to a delay.
