Sheffield Wednesday kick-off proceedings this Saturday lunchtime against Preston as they look to gain a brief advantage over League One promotion rivals Huddersfield and Sheffield United.

Leeds host Watford in the Championship after reigniting their play-off push while Barnsley visit Ipswich.

Bradford City face a pivotal game at the bottom of League Two against Plymouth.

Team news: Joe Dudgeon is out with a hamstring injury along with Robert Koren, who has missed the last two games, on the sidelines. Better news for Nick Barmby is Tom Cairney being available.

Leeds United v Watford

Team news: Aidy White is a major doubt for Leeds with an ankle injury picked up at Millwall a week ago, while Darren O’Dea starts a two-game ban after collecting a tenth booking of the season. Leigh Bromby and Andy O’Brien are still not fit enough to be involved despite playing for the reserves in midweek.

League One

Carlisle United v Huddersfield Town

Team news: Tommy Miller has this week returned to training following a hernia operation but Oscar Gobern and Damien Johnson remain on the sidelines with hamstring injuries.

Hartlepool United v Sheffield United

Team news: Danny Wilson has no fresh injury concerns from Wednesday night’s win over Chesterfield but the Blades manager will monitor Harry Maguire closely after the defender missed the game with a virus.

Sheffield Wednesday v Preston North End

Team news: Owls manager Dave Jones has a fully fit squad to choose from, although left-back Daniel Jones will not be considered after just returning from injury after a lengthy lay-off. Wingers Jermaine Johnson and Michail Antonio could start, but new loan signings Nile Ranger and Keith Treacy are pushing for Hillsborough debuts. Preston could include former Owls loan striker Neil Mellor.

League Two

Plymouth Argyle v Bradford City

Team news: Luke Oliver and Jon McLaughlin start three-game bans following the midweek brawl at home to Crawley Town, while Andrew Davies misses the first of five matches for his part in the same incident. Matt Duke has been recalled from a loan stay at Northampton and will start in goal and Simon Ramsden is fit to return.

Rotherham United v Hereford United

Team news: Michael Raynes is missing with the hamstring injury that forced the defender out of last week’s defeat to Crawley, which could allow Ryan Cresswell to return for his first start since September. Sam Hoskins is pushing for a first start but Luke Foster and Richard Naylor are both out with knee injuries.
