Yeovil Town 1 Bradford City 0: City not at the races, confesses Parkinson

BRADFORD CITY’S play-off hopes took a knock as they were defeated at rock-bottom Yeovil Town. The Glovers secured their first win since September, while the Bantams fell to their second straight league reverse.

After FA Cup replay success in midweek, disappointed Bantams manager Phil Parkinson said: “It’s been a testing week for the lads, there’s no doubt about that.

“But we still found it within ourselves to keep plugging away after Yeovil had scored.

“We started the game slowly and, to be perfectly honest, we weren’t quite at the races all day.

“We knew the start to the game would be key as Yeovil would come at us straight away because we’d played on Wednesday.

“We were punished badly with the goal, but after that I thought we played reasonably well without showing that quality you need in and around the opposition’s final third. Our slow start has probably cost us in the end. I can’t remember them having any real chances in the second half, but we couldn’t find that killer cross or pass to kill things off.”

Recent Glovers capture Gozie Ugwu pounced to grab the only goal in the 26th minute.

The 21-year-old forward headed home as he latched on to Kieffer Moore’s flick-on as the hosts registered only their sixth home league strike of the season.

James Hanson missed the Bantams’ best chance to equalise, in the second half, when he headed disappointingly over the crossbar during what was a poor overall performance.
