Charges brought after Forest and Leeds United brawl

The FA have also issued a separate charge of violent conduct to Forest defender Chris Gunter for stamping on Leeds striker Sanchez Watt.

An FA statement said: "Leeds United and Nottingham Forest have both been charged following a mass confrontation between their two sets of players at Sunday's Championship fixture at the City Ground and have been charged under new fast-track rules with failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and have until 4pm on Friday, August 20 to respond.

"Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest's Chris Gunter has been charged with violent conduct following an incident in the same fixture. Gunter has been offered the penalty of a three-match suspension and has until 6pm on Wednesday, August 18 to admit or deny the charge."

Gunter and Watt were booked by referee Tony Bates after an exchange that sparked the second-half melee.

TV replays of the incident clearly showed Gunter stamping on Watt's foot, which incensed Leeds manager Simon Grayson, but Forest manager Billy Davies defended his player and claimed Watt had initially stood on Gunter.

Young Arsenal forward Jay Simpson could move north to Hull City to gain first-team football, according to reports in London.

Ipswich manager Roy Keane has played down the chances of a swap deal involving Jon Stead and Cardiff forward Ross McCormack. Stead scored in the opening day win at Middlesbrough but is still free to find another club, said Keane.

"There's been no move on Ross McCormack because there is one or two other clubs in for Steady," said Keane.
